I had to. Hats off to Chris Martin and the rest of Coldplay for choosing to play this song at Glastonbury on Sunday. It was an incredibly beautiful gesture.
Great song as well, by the way. Love the pace of it and it just makes me want to sing along and stamp my feet! A great loss… That’s for sure…

Opinions seem to be divided on this year’s Glastonbury Festival line-up. Though, to be fair, there are complaints every year, aren’t there?
But let’s start by looking at the headliners.
Muse on Friday. Yeah, good solid headline band that always bring a big show. They are the band I should love – they have all the right ingredients, but I just don’t. For some inexplicable reason, Muse do nothing for me. It does not help that I don’t like Matt Bellamy’s voice I suppose.What was their last album like? I don’t know.
Adele on Saturday. Sure, I get it. She is the biggest pop star around at the moment, maybe bar Beyonce (she of course has done Glasto before) and there is always room for a bit of pop at a festival, I think. I am sure she will do well. It is not my thing, but I like Adele and I think she is a good booking.
Sunday – Coldplay. Don’t get me wrong, I like Coldplay, but… and it’s a BUT… to me they are one of the most overrated bands around. I simply do not understand how they got so big. When did that happen? HOW did that happen. So, Coldplay, yes, a solid headline band, but not exactly exciting, are they? Are they?
And that’s my problem with this trio of headliners. All are decent headliners, but put together on a bill as headline acts they just seem a little unexciting, too predictable.
Luckily, some of the alternatives for the headliners look more appetizing to me. Now, Friday I would definitely not be seeing Muse. I would have the difficult choice to make to go and see either Underworld (West Holts Stage) or Sigur Ros (John Peel Stage). That’s a really tricky one. Sigur Ros would have made an amazing headliner, but then I would say that as they are one of my favourite bands around. But I have seen them a few times before, while I have never seen Underworld – what an agonising decision!
Saturday – I would probably go for New Order, though I might have to sneak in a little Adele just to say I saw her. Yeah, I’m shallow like that and not ashamed to say it .
Sunday – I would probably go for LCD Soundsystem, tough a bit of Earth, Wind and Fire could be interesting! Or what about Cyndi Lauper at the Acoustic Stage!
So before people start complaining about the headline acts, look at ‘undercard’. It really is not that bad!
On Friday: Foals, Roisin Murphy, Explosions In The Sky, Savages – apart from the headline timeslot, the day is so-so for, but enough to keep me interested.
On Saturday: Tame Impala, The Last Shadow Puppets, Wolf Alice, Example, Nothing But Thieves, Car Seat Headrest and if you’re in the mood for nostalgia some Art Garfunkel or Ralph McTell.
And finally, on Sunday: Beck, Ellie Goulding (I like her all right!), PJ Harvey, and I would be happy to just hang out at the John Peel Stage With Mystery Jets followed by Bat For Lashes, followed by Band Of Horses, followed by Of Monsters and Men.
And there are always bands or artists you have never heard of to check out.
So those of you with Glasto tickets – stop complaining and just enjoy!
